Freedom is often described as escape a departure from constraints, a movement toward open horizons. Yet within my Reunion Series, which I translate as Reunion, freedom carries a different meaning. It is not about leaving. It is about returning.
The horse in this work does not symbolize running away. It embodies instinct, strength, and untamed presence but above all, it represents the moment of inner Reunion. The moment we stop fleeing from ourselves and choose to stand in our own truth.
In the Reunion Series, Reunion is the encounter between the visible self and the hidden self. Over time, we distance ourselves from our emotions, silence certain desires, and adapt to expectations. We fragment. Reunion becomes the courageous act of gathering those fragments and facing them without fear.
And in that gathering, something profound happens: we become free.
True freedom is not the absence of limits; it is the harmony between our inner world and our outer existence. When who we are inside aligns with how we live outside, liberation unfolds quietly but powerfully.
The horse reflects this alignment. It does not negotiate its nature. It moves with certainty, grounded yet powerful. In the same way, Reunion allows us to reclaim our authentic essence without apology, without hesitation.
Within Reunion , freedom is not a distant landscape. It is an internal awakening. It is the realization that confinement was never external, but rooted in disconnection.
Freedom, therefore, is not escape.
It is Reunion.
