Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Astana on May 13, 2026, to attend the Türkiye-Kazakhstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council Meeting and the Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States.
President Erdoğan and his wife, Emine Erdoğan, were welcomed at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Mustafa Kapucu, and other senior officials.
The visit highlights the growing diplomatic and strategic relations between Türkiye and Kazakhstan, with discussions expected to focus on trade, regional cooperation, energy, transportation, and cultural ties. The High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council serves as an important platform for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States is also expected to bring together leaders from member states to discuss regional developments and cooperation across political, economic, and cultural fields. The organization continues to play a significant role in promoting unity and collaboration among Turkic nations.
Official welcoming ceremonies were held at the airport as Erdoğan greeted Kazakh officials before proceeding to scheduled meetings and summit events in the capital. The visit reflects Türkiye’s ongoing engagement with Central Asian countries and its commitment to enhancing regional partnerships.
The meetings in Astana are expected to contribute to deeper cooperation between participating countries while reinforcing diplomatic dialogue within the Turkic world.
