Lviv, Ukraine – Exoprosthetician Taisiya Yarova is helping patients rebuild their lives by creating highly detailed prosthetic eyes, fingers, and facial parts at the Unbroken Rehabilitation Center in Lviv. On March 11, 2026, Yarova continued her meticulous work designing prosthetic elements that restore the natural appearance of individuals who have lost or suffered severe damage to parts of their bodies.
Specializing in exoprosthetics, Yarova produces prosthetic structures that are carefully attached to a patient’s body to recreate missing or damaged features. Her work combines advanced medical techniques with artistic craftsmanship, allowing her to replicate facial structures and body parts with remarkable realism. The goal is not only physical restoration but also helping patients regain confidence and return as closely as possible to their everyday lives.
Each prosthesis requires a complex and time-intensive production process. It begins with creating a highly accurate digital scan of the patient’s face or the affected area. Using modern technology, the scanned model is then produced with a 3D printer, forming the base structure for the prosthetic piece. From there, Yarova works with materials such as wax, plaster, and silicone to carefully sculpt and refine the prosthesis before it reaches its final stage.
The most delicate part of the process involves painting and detailing the prosthetic piece so it blends naturally with the patient’s skin. Yarova meticulously recreates subtle skin textures, wrinkles, tiny blood vessels, and precise skin tones. Even the smallest details, such as the color patterns of the eyes or variations in facial pigmentation, are recreated to ensure the prosthesis appears as natural as possible.
For Yarova, this work carries deep personal significance. Many of her relatives and close friends have been directly affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, and her nephew was killed during a combat mission. These personal losses have strengthened her determination to help those who have suffered injuries or trauma.
Through her dedication and craftsmanship, Yarova’s work goes far beyond physical restoration. By helping patients recover their appearance, she also restores a sense of dignity, confidence, and hope for individuals working to rebuild their lives after devastating experiences.
