A Love That Was Never Returned
Echo was a nymph admired for her charm and lively spirit. Though many admired her, she had never given her heart away—until the day she crossed paths with a striking young hunter wandering through the forest.
This hunter was Narcissus, renowned for his breathtaking beauty.
The moment Echo saw him, she fell deeply in love. Her heartbeat quickened, her eyes followed him, and she could barely breathe in his presence. But Narcissus paid her no mind. Cold and proud, he never returned the affections of those who adored him. Admiring himself was enough.
As time passed, Echo’s unrequited love consumed her. She withered away little by little, until only her voice remained—an eternal echo that still reverberates through valleys and mountains.
A Curse Before Death
Before she faded completely, Echo uttered words that were both a wish and a curse:
“May he love as I have loved—and never possess the one he loves!”
