Lady Mayor’s Show parade held in London

A general view shows large crowds gathered along the streets of central London to witness the colorful and historic “London Mayor’s Show” parade, held this year for the first time under the new title “Lady Mayor’s Show,” marking a significant moment in the city’s history on November 8, 2025. The 2025 edition celebrates the inauguration of Dame Susan Langley DBE as the first female Lord Mayor of London, a landmark achievement in the centuries-old tradition of civic leadership in the United Kingdom’s capital.

The grand procession, which has been celebrated annually since the 13th century, traces its origins back to 1215 when King John granted London the right to elect its own mayor. This year’s parade featured the ceremonial oath of allegiance at the Royal Courts of Justice, officially marking the beginning of Langley’s mayoralty, followed by an elaborate procession through the historic streets of the City of London.

Thousands of spectators lined the parade route, waving flags and cheering as military bands, floats, horses, performers, and representatives of London’s ancient livery companies made their way through the city. The atmosphere was filled with music, color, and pride, celebrating both tradition and progress.

Dame Susan Langley, an accomplished business leader and advocate for diversity and inclusion, was escorted in the Lord Mayor’s State Coach, a gilded 18th-century carriage that gleamed in the autumn light as it made its way past landmarks such as St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England.

The 2025 Lady Mayor’s Show not only upheld centuries of pageantry but also symbolized a new era for London, highlighting the city’s evolving spirit of equality and representation. The event concluded with a grand fireworks display over the River Thames, drawing applause from the gathered crowds and marking the start of Dame Susan Langley’s historic term as the first woman to hold the office of Lord Mayor of London.
