Life: A Dance of Postponement

“That dream holiday will happen one day…” But what if it happens right in the middle of menopause?

“Once the kids grow up, I’ll go on that dream holiday. When I retire, when the house is paid off — that’s when I’ll finally take that long-awaited trip.”
Sounds familiar?

No matter how well we plan, life always surprises us — sometimes beautifully, sometimes less so. Before a holiday, we think about vitamins, blood tests, travel vaccines, and bringing our medications. But have you ever considered the unplanned guest of midlife — menopause?

It often happens that the long-postponed holiday ends up arriving right when menopause does. You don’t have to live by it but knowing it — and preparing for it — makes all the difference.

Menopause: The End of One Chapter, the Beginning of Another

Menopause marks the time when hormonal changes lead to the end of menstrual cycles and the beginning of a new life phase.
Clinically, it’s defined as twelve consecutive months without a period — the moment that last cycle becomes “the last.” The years before it is called perimenopause, and those after it, postmenopause.

The body, which once prepared every month for the possibility of new life, stops doing so.
Oestrogen — responsible for joy, bone health, memory, moisture, heart health, sleep and calm —
Progesterone — the hormone of healing, grounding, and safety —
and Testosterone — that quiet voice saying “you’ve got this” —
all begin to decline.

Some women experience mood swings, irritability, loss of confidence, joint pain, dryness, low libido, or simply feeling “off.” Others glide through it almost unnoticed.

That long-awaited trip you dreamed of for years might not feel as you imagined.
Because menopause isn’t just something a woman experiences alone — everyone around her adjusts too. It’s a collective shift, and awareness is everything.

Connection Before Correction®

Awareness comes first.
A woman must reconnect with herself, then with those around her, before she can take meaningful steps forward.

Menopause is not an illness; it’s a natural transition — a new rhythm of life.
Just like the earth orbiting the sun or the seasons changing, it’s a cycle of adaptation.

The World Health Organization defines health as:

“A state in which an individual can adapt to physical, emotional, and social challenges and manage their own life.”

In the dance of life, we move to the music playing in the background.
When our hormones need balance, that’s where our focus should go.

The Power of Reconnection

Before turning forty — and ideally even earlier — women should take time to reconnect with themselves through the Connection Before Correction® approach:
“How am I feeling? How is my mood? Do I have pain? How am I sleeping? How do I wake up? What is my desire like? Do I hide behind excuses?”
Has my menstrual cycle changed in frequency or intensity?

This self-awareness acts like a small, folded piece of paper placed under a wobbly table leg — restoring balance where it’s needed.

To ease the menopausal transition, there are herbal supports, lifestyle changes, and, when necessary, hormonal options recommended by your doctor.
As a health professional, I tend to prefer topical or vaginal hormone applications when appropriate — but the best approach is the one tailored to you, chosen with your trusted healthcare partner.

Alongside self-connection, it’s important to check key blood markers: glucose, insulin, thyroid, vitamin D, full blood count, and ferritin — they help you see the full picture.

And remember this:
If you’re over forty, don’t panic.
Even if it’s been ten years since your last period, you can still support yourself and find your balance again.
Your body’s capacity to heal and adapt remains at every age.
The key is to notice where you are — and start from there.

Connection Before Correction® is always the first step.
How are you — really?
Body, mind, and spirit — how are they in tune?
When you notice that you’ll continue your life’s journey with greater ease and joy.

And if one day, an unexpected song starts to play —
its life inviting you to dance.
Catch the rhythm. Because sometimes, health is simply the art of moving with the music.
